My friend Ernie Tschanz wanted a Jaeger rifle. Since none of us knew anything about these Germanic rifles, we were free to use our imaginations. So, 18th century Ernie's face is on the sliding wooden patchbox lid, and the carving behind the cheekpiece was inspired by Isaac Haines of Lancaster, PA.
