John Armstrong (1977)

I met Carl Pippert and saw my first original John Armstrong rifle. We took rubbings of the original rifle and he sold me buttplate and trigger guard castigs taken from the original. This gun was a giant step in learning for me. I sold it to a fellow in Maryland to a fellow with a collection of original Armstrong rifles.

Andrew Verner (1977)

Still using parallel-sided Douglas barrels, I made my copy of the famous Verner rifle, entirely from photographs. Lance Hyde, who had an original Verner rifle, laid it beside my copy, and they matched! You can make a gun from photos, if you know what to look for!
